What is SigmaStat?
SigmaStat is a statistics package for people whose job is the science, not the statistics. Load your data, say what you want to find out, and the program shows you the tests that hold up for that data. It runs the test, reports the diagnostics alongside the result, and produces a document a supervisor, a reviewer or an auditor can follow.
SigmaStat has been on laboratory desktops since the 1990s, first from Jandel Scientific and later from Systat. Version 1.0 restarts the numbering because Grafiti has rewritten the application from scratch. A new cross-platform codebase, a modern interface, and a local AI assistant that earlier versions had no equivalent for.
Most statistics software organises itself the way a textbook does, by method family. SigmaStat organises itself the way research works, by what you are trying to learn. Pick the question and the valid methods appear.
If you are still unsure, the Advisor wizard asks a short series of questions about your design and your data and hands back the test that fits. It is the same idea that made SigmaStat popular in labs 20 years ago, rebuilt.
ARAI answers on your machine, not in the cloud
Research software has been racing to bolt on a chatbot, and almost all of them ship your question, and often a slice of your data, to somebody else’s server. ARAI does not. It is a retrieval system that lives inside SigmaStat, built on the product user manual, the technical support archive, vendor white papers and curated statistical reference material, and it answers from that library on the hardware in front of you.
For anyone working under a data processing agreement, an ethics approval or an NDA, that difference decides whether the feature can be switched on at all. Patient records, unpublished results and commercially sensitive measurements stay where your compliance officer put them.
Graphs that come out of the analysis
Run a test and SigmaStat draws the result graph that belongs with it, so the figure and the statistics stay in sync. When you need something for the paper the full graph library is there.
Reports are built for handing over. Zoom, bookmarks and a table of contents make long output navigable, tables can follow your own format, and headers, footers and page numbers survive the trip to print. Export to PDF, PSD or HTML when a colleague needs to read it outside the application.
Reads the files your lab already has
Nobody starts a project in a vacuum. SigmaStat opens SAS data sets (.sd2, .sas7bdat), Minitab files (.mtw, .mpj), ASCII, CSV and Excel workbooks, and files from R, Statistica, Matlab, Stata and JMP. Database work runs over ODBC or JDBC, including SQL queries and selective import when you only need 3 columns out of 40.
Work in the worksheet the way you would in a spreadsheet, with a formula bar, cell formatting, colours, symbols and line styles, then send graphs and reports back out as PDF, PSD or HTML, or as SAS, Minitab, Excel, DIF and plain text for whoever needs the numbers.

A native macOS build
SigmaStat now targets Mac and Windows from one codebase. The macOS version is coming soon, which ends 30 years of Mac users running SigmaStat through Parallels, Boot Camp or a colleague’s laptop. Ask us for the current release date before you order for a mixed lab.

The method library covers ground the old versions did not, including three-way ANOVA, one-way ANCOVA, Deming regression, best subset regression, principal components analysis, and Cox proportional hazards with stratified models.
Automatic result graphs
Where a test has a standard visual companion, SigmaStat generates it with the report. The figure comes from the same run as the numbers, so there is no chance of pairing last week’s plot with this week’s analysis.

Only if you want SigmaPlot’s larger graph library, curve fitting and the Regression Wizard. SigmaStat covers the statistics and produces its own 2D and 3D graphs and reports. Plenty of groups run both, and we can quote them together.
Yes. SAS, Minitab, R, Statistica, Matlab, Stata and JMP files import directly, along with Excel, CSV and plain text. Database tables come in over ODBC or JDBC, and you can pull a subset with a SQL query rather than the whole table.

The Advisor asks what you want to find out and narrows the list to methods that are valid for your data, and ARAI explains any term or test on request. You still need to understand your own experiment, but you do not need to remember which ANOVA variant applies to a split-plot design.
