From the financial to the scientific, anyone who faces uncertainty in their quantitative analyses can benefit from @RISK. What are the chances of making money or taking a loss on your next project? How about the probabilities of staying within budget or needing a contingency? @RISK answers these risk modelling questions and more – right in your Excel spreadsheet.
What is @Risk?
Use Monte Carlo Simulation to see all possible outcomes
@RISK (pronounced “at risk”) software is an add-in tool for Microsoft Excel that helps you make better decisions through risk modelling, simulation and analysis. It does this using a technique known as Monte Carlo simulation.
Monte Carlo analysis computes and tracks many different possible future scenarios in your risk model and shows you the probability of each occurring. This way, @RISK shows you virtually all possible outcomes for any situation. This probabilistic approach makes @RISK a powerful tool that you can use to judge which risks to take and which ones to avoid—critical insight in today’s uncertain world.
Model risks and uncover new opportunities with @Risk
From the financial sector, where investments and portfolios are analyzed for risk, to scientific fields, such as engineering and health sciences, where the risk of certain outcomes or events is evaluated, @RISK provides a robust toolset to help professionals make informed decisions. @RISK helps both Fortune 500 companies and private consultancies paint a realistic picture of possible scenarios. This allows businesses to not only buffer and mitigate risks but also identify and exploit growth opportunities.
Key features in @Risk
Monte Carlo Simulation
By sampling different possible inputs, @RISK calculates thousands of possible future outcomes and the chances they will occur. This helps you avoid likely hazards—and uncover hidden opportunities.
100% Excel Integration
@RISK integrates seamlessly with Excel’s function set and ribbon, letting you work in a familiar environment with results you can trust.
@RISK identifies and ranks the most important factors driving your risks so that you can plan strategies—and resources—accordingly.
Graphs and Reports
@RISK offers various customizable, exportable graphing and reporting options that let you communicate risk to all stakeholders.
Extensive Modeling Features
With a broad library of probability distributions, data fitting tools, and correlation modelling, @RISK lets you represent any scenario in any industry with the highest level of accuracy.
What’s new in @RISK 8?
A New Generation in Risk Analysis
@RISK 8 is a major upgrade representing the culmination of feedback from thousands of users. We focused on what is most important to you based on the analyses you do every day. Furthermore, @RISK 8 has been rebuilt on the latest programming technology from the ground up. This forward-looking foundation ensures that @RISK will continue to provide the most reliable, accurate, and robust quantitative risk analysis available anywhere for years to come.
But make no mistake: while @RISK 8 is better, faster, and stronger than ever, it is still as easy to use as 1-2-3.
Fresh new look, Streamlined workflows
As a result of user input, the interface is now more intuitive for both new and experienced practitioners alike, reducing learning curves and the time it takes to perform analyses. @RISK 8 offers a thoroughly modern look and feel throughout the entire application, from the all-new command Ribbon to every dialogue window. What’s more, @RISK 8 is available in both English and Spanish.
From defining input distributions to correlating variables to identifying output cells, every aspect of model management has been re-engineered for fewer lags and overall more responsive performance. Likewise, from analysis of simulation data to the generation or reports to share with others, everything to do with results analysis has been significantly sped up. In addition, you have greater control than ever, with more progress bars and ways to cancel long operations.
The Define Distribution window, the first step in any @RISK analysis, has been overhauled to simplify anything you may need to do when creating or editing @RISK distribution functions. Correlations are much faster to define, and the performance of time series fitting has been significantly enhanced. Plus, the entire Model Window is more flexible and simpler than ever.
From Summary Trend to 2-Way Tornado charts, @RISK 8 offers significantly improved graphing capabilities, as well as an entirely new feature set for generating custom reports to share with colleagues. The best part is, it does all this 10 times faster than before! A new Explore menu offers all results graphs and reports in one place. And the Browse, Summary, and other windows have been overhauled for faster workflows.
Get started fast with @Risk
@RISK 8 ships with an all-new tutorial in the form of step-by-step example spreadsheets that are designed with ease-of-use and sequential learning in mind. Each example builds on the one before, and all interactively allow you to step through them with point-and-click ease. The new example library has been rewritten by professional consultants to help decision makers get results fast, out of the box.
Solid analytics and tight Excel integration
Of course, another key reason Fortune 1000 companies rely upon @RISK every day has long been the power of its rock-solid analytics. Version 8 takes that up a level, too, with substantial enhancements to sophisticated analytical features. In addition, @RISK 8 supports the very latest advances in Excel 2019 (such as dynamic arrays) to make your analyses even more cohesive.
Ready for the future
While @RISK 8 is a substantial upgrade in its own right, it also represents the birth of a new platform which will launch an entire generation of risk analysis advances. The new @RISK is technologically poised to take advantage of future improvements in the field of probabilistic analysis and Excel itself. Put simply, this ensures you can trust that @RISK will provide the best possible insights, whatever the future brings.
